Strawberries ~ The strawberry market is on its normal decline which happens yearly after

Valentines Day. Quality is looking good, and should remain so unless weather becomes a

factor.

Tomatoes ~ The tomato market has shown a little strength the last few days.  Mostly due to cooler weather in the Mexican growing areas. The weather forecast calls for it to warm up over the next 7 to 10 days so we expect the increase will be short lived. Quality has been good.

Cantaloupe ~ This market has shown some signs of weakening. More and more product is arriving on the West Coast weekly. With this commodity being an import only item in the

winter, it is tough to give an accurate prediction for the next few weeks. Quality has been fair to good.

Onions ~ This item has not changed for quite a while. Quality and pricing have been very good and should remain so for a while.

Herbs ~ The recent wet weather in the herb growing regions have hurt the fresh herb market.

Look for quality and shelf life to be down substantially. Basil and Tarragon are the two items that were hardest hit.

Leafy Greens ~ These items remain fairly stable. Quality has been good, and should

remain so as long as we do not run into any weather issues.

Table Grapes ~  This commodity has really come down over the last month. Sizing has also increased. Over all quality has been very good. If you have not already, it’s time to put them back on your menu.

Bananas ~ This item has really taken off. Volume is down some, but the main reason for the increase seems to be due to South American growers choosing the European market over the U.S market. Look for this trend to continue with other commodities as the U.S. dollar weakens and the Euro strengthens.
